Empowering victims of tragedy — Peoria Government news

Evanston’s Victim Services Team was honored by the City Council on its 50th anniversary Oct. 22. The team works 24 hours a day to provide care for victims of crimes or families impacted by sudden tragedy. Accepting the honor were, from left, Indira Perkins, human resources manager, and advocates Ariel Jackson and Kelli Nelson. “So many social service programs have started and stopped, but Victim Services has been a mainstay and has been a model,” Jackson said. “I’m thankful that I’m able to use my gifts and talents in this role to make sure that people on their worst day have someone to lean on.” (Photo by Richard Cahan.)
